The Catalonia Plaza Catalunya hotel is located a few meters from Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, the best location to explore the city. The modernist-style building was built in 1899 by the architect Emili Salas Cortés, who was Antoni Gaudí's teacher. The block was completely restored and enlarged in 1998, at the same time as the adjoining classical-style building dating from 1881 was incorporated.

As you will see upon arrival, the entrance and façade of the main building have been maintained and restored. An impressive marble staircase has been preserved that will take you to the first floor, where you will be able to admire some magnificent doors made of Cuban mahogany (a type of wood that is no longer commercialized today). Look up to see a beautiful coffered ceiling and a fantastic dome, both perfectly preserved. In addition, we have maintained the wrought iron railing of the building's main staircase and restored the original drawings. Everything so that you live an immersive experience in the Barcelona of more than a century ago during your stay.

Come and have tapas at Gastrobar Contempo, on the ground floor of the hotel, and delight your palate with the tapas created by our chef, Josep Jorba. Have a vermouth at the bar or settle into one of the designer chairs in this avant-garde space to live a unique gastronomic experience.
