Explore the beaches

Tenerife beaches tend to be an important hook for tourists and , particularly, beaches in Costa Adeje don’t disappoint. There are three beaches: Playa del Duque, Playa Fañabé, and Playa la Pinta.

These three beaches have different characteristics. Playa Fañabé is almost 1 km long and has fine sand and shallow waters. Playa del Duque extends to almost 400 meters long and has fine-grained golden sand and crystal clear ocean water. Playa la Pinta is about 180 meters long and is the smallest, located north of the harbor, and has the best wave protection.

Church of St. Ursula

The Church is a cultural monument where locals used to worship Santa Ursula and is located in Plaza de España Square. It was declared a historical monument in 1896.

The church’s architecture comprises two naves and has the Mudejar-style ceiling that’s common in Spain. The architecture was developed during different periods, for example the sculptures of Virgen de La Encarnación crafted in the 15th and 16th century and the sculpture of Santa Ursula crafted in the 17th Century.

Watch whales and dolphins

Marine life is another prime attraction in Costa Adeje. Sailing tours along the coast allow you to watch dolphins and whales. As you explore the coast, you will also see turtles and different species of fish. Book a luxury yacht that can take you deeper into the ocean for better views as you enjoy the amenities.

Hiking in Costa Adeje: Barranco del Infierno

Although Costa Adeje is also known for being a suitable place in Tenerife for surfing, if you are an adrenaline junkie, hiking the Barranco del Infierno would be a welcome challenge. The nature reserve allows 20 people to protect the local plants and animals every half hour. The trail begins 350 meters above sea level and hikers are treated to scenic views of Adeje.

The hike takes approximately three hours with a total distance of 6.5 kilometers where tourists get to see an old pastoral trail, a ravine, and an old mill.

Paragliding

If you enjoy heart-wrenching activities and catching amazing views, gliding is the best option. It is interesting to do gliding in Costa Adeje because of the amazing views and the different ranges of altitudes from which you can start gliding.

The options for both experienced gliders and beginners are available due to the different altitude options and tandem flights offered by the instructors.

Mirador de Fañabé

Another hiking trail is the Mirador de Fanabe, which has panoramic views of Fañabé beach. It is also known as an observation deck because you can see most of the island from the highest point. You might also encounter some cyclists who enjoy the rough terrain and the great views.

Visit Casa Fuerte

Casa Fuerte is a stronghold built in the 16th century to protect the sugar mill from pirate invasion. It is historically significant, but currently, it is a private property, and the owners hope to preserve its significance.
