On December 19 2014, Catalonia Gran Dominicus has been awarded the Blue Flag 2015 Certification.
Have you noticed the Blue Flag on our beach?
The reason is because we´re part of the Blue Flag Certification, given each year by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). In the Dominican Republic it is represented by the Dominican Republic Institute of Environmental Law and is found in more than 31 countries with about 360 certified beaches.
This flag is set on some beaches around the world as an indication of their high environmental and quality standards.
The Blue Flag Certification seeks to persuade people around the world to be part of a movement where local communities conserve, clean and protect local beaches and marine life.
We are glad to announce that our beach in Bayahibe was the first beach in the Dominican Republic to receive this award 10 years ago.
Our Resort is granted with this award due to the healthy, caring and excellent environmental measures that the Catalonia Team accomplishes in Bayahibe.
It should be noted that our Coral Restoration Project, has had great impact on this recognition. Next to the non- motorized watersports activities policy in our Resorts; these actions have helped in getting this certification year by year.
The Blue Flag was hoisted in Catalonia Gran Dominicus for the first time on November 2, 2004. Since then we have worked to improve our environmental commitment, renewing our certification every year.
